Reading Counts At Lakewood Elementary
Lakewood Elementary is pleased to be participating in the research based program, Reading Counts. This program encourages students to read books on their determined reading level- called a "lexile level"- then to take computer based comprehension quizzes on books they have read, earning points for each quiz. Lakewood students in grades 3 through 6, and second semester 2nd graders, are participating in Reading Counts. Each teacher has determined the goals for the class, as well as individual student goals. Reading Counts quizzes are incorporated into the overall reading program, and may count towards the student's reading grade. Please contact your child's teacher for further information.
Books with quizzes available are labeled in the Lakewood library. Most of these books are also available in the public library, as well, although they will not be labeled. There are over 40,000 quiz books in the Reading Counts program, far more than we have in the Lakewood Library.
